The Office of Student Engagement within Undergraduate Education provides support and guidance to prepare qualified students to be competitive in applying for prestigious scholarships, fellowships, and internships. In addition to maintaining a strong GPA, students are encouraged to build their resumes early with involvement in activities that demonstrate leadership and intellectual curiosity. Students will be guided on optimizing research experience, leadership roles, community service, employment, internships, publications, conferences, and volunteer work to impact changes in their fields. Each of these experiences helps students build a record of accomplishment in scholarship, leadership, and commitment to community service while defining the students’ goals and focus.
Available Award Opportunities
UCR undergraduate students are encouraged to review the award listings to determine the best award that meets their interests and long term goals. Interested students should consider attending any of our Student Engagement Information Sessions as early as their sophomore year. These workshops will provide guidance on selecting recommenders, preparing compelling personal statements, interviewing, and developing a project proposal or proposed program of study. Visit our events page for information to RSVP for an upcoming information session.
